Festival

The Soul Express Orchestra (NO) was founded in 2003 in Bergen. The core crew of the band lead the hip hop and r&b project and club B: underground in Bergen. The band has played twice at By:larm and was named to be the festival’s highlight in various media. The Soul Express Orchestra was also among four finalists nominated to Bergens Rockepris 2005. In 2005 they made it to the final in “The Global Battle of Band” and became second best. They have also played at Fuglfønixfestivalen, Baronfestivalen, Phonofestivalen and Quartfestivalen. During 2008 Stig van Eijk lived in Portugal to promote the band and made a great network within their music genre. This opened many new doors and Portugal loved The Soul Express Orchestra! In 2009 the band was chosen to participate in the world’s first Youtube – internet festival, and this was great success.

Finally their debut album “Time for a Change” has arrived, and their music reflects immense enthusiasm similar to what they perform on stage! The Soul Express Orchestra brings soul and funk to new levels when they mix reggae into their music.

Not often do we hear reggae rhythms of this kind in the cold north, but The Soul Express Orchestra sure knows how to play it. We look forward to welcome this band to Voss in March!
